This will be a bittersweet month for us here at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Sunday, June 20th, will be the last Sunday for Pastor Mike and Karen to be in our church with our families. They will be continuing their life’s next adventure in Hawaii and we are going to sincerely miss them here. Pastor Mike, with Karen’s help, has led our church over the rough times during this crazy pandemic by not only facilitating all the electronic “stuff” that had to happen in order to provide an on-line worship service every Sunday, but also by being a strong guiding presence as we wondered just how things would work out. We know our God was always in control, but Pastor Mike’s calm assurance that we were a strong body of Christ and everything would work out just fine…as God intended..was reassuring. We wish safe travels, and many blessings to be showered upon them as they move forward along the pathway God has provided.
The Sunday School children met last week for the first time in many months and everyone was glad for this opportunity to learn more about our awesome God. The final day for Sunday School this year will be Sunday, June 27th, and the children and staff will host a BBQ luncheon following the worship service. Members of the congregation are invited to bring a dish to share and enjoy some much needed fellowhip time. After a summer off for fun, Sunday School will resume in the fall.
While meetings continue to be conducted via the internet, we are delighted that we are able to worship in person in our sanctuary. If you are fully vaccinated, masks are optional. Our choir is back and it’s wonderful to hear the voices singing praises to our God. Everyone is welcome to come worship with us on Sunday mornings at 10am!
